As a non-politician, I offer ideas and solutions from a business perspective that are in the best interest of our Village and its residents. Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. In spite of our economic climate, the local tax for the Village of Volo is fair for both businesses and residents. Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed. The intersection of Hwy 12 and Molidor is a major concern for many residents. State and local governments must make this a high priority to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and non-residents traveling through our community. In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to? Trimming or reallocation of funds requires compromises and sacrifices when it involves managing and balancing the budget. While I am in favor of such, offering advice without a thorough review would be premature at this point and time. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet? Our community is growing and many of our residents are young adults with diverse backgrounds. Therefore, they have high expectations when it comes to community relations. That said, the Village has to improve its method of communication and it relations by developing programs and community events that attract young adults.
