If yes, please explain: noCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 Growing our Tax Base by activly marketing our community , a web site is a great tool but in marketing its all about getting out to put a name to the face of the villageKey Issue 2 Public Safety and Quality of LifeKey Issue 3 finding grant money to help defray the costs of some of the bigger projects that the village will be facing in the upcoming years for infrastructure and mandated upgrades ot water , sewer , our streets and lighting in the neighborhoodsQuestions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?12 years of community involvement , and volunteer across the board from Hainesville fest to shoveling hydrants in the village to improve upon public safety , I learned a long time ago from my family who were all involed in public service in my home town you only get out of your community by what you put into it.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I feel that with the new state tax inceases it would be an additional burden on any business to try to levy any additional local taxes at this timeTalking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.my neighbors were very concerned with the mayors decision to close the Hainesville Police department , now with GLPD providing patrol services they are asking for more patrol and higher visibility of GLPD cars in the neighborhoods and keeping a close eye on the bus stops before and after school .How would I like to address it from the public safety chair , to have the GLPD provide an officer/ command staff for our board meetings , 2) provide an accounting of patrol hours and calls for service as we got when we had our own police department,with documentation 3) advise what trends they are seeing from a policing standpoint, and interaction with other surounding police agencies 4) Proactive and positive interaction with the residents, to prevent or discourage gang activity in our community , as there is a big gang presence in communities around usIn these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Our budget is in pretty good shape , I think maybe we could cut some of the spending on the lakes and wetlands and spend the money in more infrstructure preventive maintenance along with community outreach to help our community during these tough times with our economy,What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?start a business and jobs network bank to help our local residents network and help to grow buisness and find or create jobs
