When I went back to college I spent many hours in the library studying and utilizing all the resources they had to offer whether it was books, video's and/or computers. I found that the library can be a financial benefit to families in today's economic times; a patron can check out DVD's, cd's, books on tape, video games etc. at no charge. How often do you use it?I have had a Niles library card for many years as I was raised in Niles. As mentioned, when I was in school the library was like my second home, now I go to the library periodically to read in a relaxed, quiet setting. I take my grand daughter to the library and use the childrens section.Space is usually an issue at libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.The library trustee's do not micro manage. It is the director's decision if changes are needed. The recommended changes are then brought to the board to be taken under advisement.What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?The library provides programs and hand on services that are not on the computer. The computer can provide alot of information but books are still necessary. There are senior's that come to the library for computer assistance to look up something of interest or because they do not have one at home. In regard to changes within the community, this is the reason I would like to create a forum for suggestions on any changes or additions the patrons would like to see.
