I simply believe that I can use my experience in state politics to help the Board work with state and county officials to help meet the needs of my fellow residents in Green Oaks.Each of the four candidates for these three positions bring different talents and personal experience to the job of trustee. Let's let the voters decide which three candidates can get the most accomplished for Green Oaks.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Green Oaks has no sales tax. I applaud the members of the Green Oaks Village Board for keeping its municipal fees low, and will do everything I can to keep local taxes low. Particularly at a time when home values are low and property taxes remain high, Green Oaks must do what it can to keep it's municipal tax levy low to alleviate the burden on homeowners in Green Oaks.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Speaking with fellow residents, the biggest safety concern in Green Oaks are burglaries that have occurred in the area. We should work with the Lake County Sheriff to increase patrols in the area and notify residents to be on the alert for suspicious behavior.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I believe that our snow plowing and road maintenance contracts should be reviewed, and bid competitively with other vendors.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Here in Green Oaks, we have a lot of residents who make a long commute to Chicago and back, work long hours, and don't have the time to attend Village Board meetings to keep up with how their government works and how their money is being spent.We could put information online, such as the budget, financial audits, and village contracts, so that residents could keep track of what their government is doing on their own time.
