Maintaining the streets, making improvements that are in alignment with our Comprehensive Plan are keys to our success as a thriving Village.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?This last year of being an appointed Trustee has been most rewarding. I have been able to use my Human Resources and Payroll expertise while serving on the Village of Volo Human Resource Committee. I have organize and participate in all of the past year's Volo Community Events such as the Memorial Day Parade, the Easter Egg Hunt, Volofest, the Fox Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Volo Holiday Party. Each event has given me the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with our residents, the people that the Board of Trustees has the honor of serving. I have a vast financial background which allows me to constructively contribute with resolutions to the Village of Volo operations. I see the Village of Volo growing and I will always do my best to help the Village of Volo in any way that I can.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.At this time of economic strain for all businesses, sale tax is a consideration in attracting new business growth. The Village of Volo has been very responsible and equitable in the amount of the sales tax assessment.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.As the population in the Village of Volo continues to grow, the concern in public safety has been the increase in traffic. The Village of Volo has made and continues to make significant improvements in intersection safety. Our Comprehensive Plan outlines major improvements for Route 120, Rand Road and Gilmore to name a few. The Comprehensive Plan forecasts where future improvements will be needed and as the Village of Volo continues to responsibly take these steps, the public's safety will continue to improve.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?All areas of the budget have and continue to be reviewed for necessity and reasonableness. All services the Village of Volo obtains are closely scutinized at each interval including getting responsible bids, and always negotiated with fiscal awareness. I would like to see the Village of Volo have a greater ability to assist the Food pantries. In these economically trying times, more residents are in need of assistance for the daily necessities.What#146;s one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I would like to see the Village Hall being used more by our residents to grow into a true community center. We have a community room that is available for our residents that can be used for functions such as boy/girl clubs, classes and can be a vital part of the community. Homeowner Association Meetings have been held there for sub divisions that do not have a location for meetings. I am the Chair-person of the Parks Committee for the Village of Volo and we are working on eventually having available a soccer field, football, baseball and childs play ground in the future on the Village Hall grounds.
