I would like us to bring in more commercial and service related businesses that will serve Pingree Grove and our nearby communities.Key Issue 2 Our village is currently running on a budget deficit. I plan to seek changes that will allow us to run a more balanced budget. This would have to be done with limited cuts that directly affect our current workers and needs. Key Issue 3 As residents of Pingree Grove utilizing the same Police, Fire, Public works and Municipal departments we all need to be taxed equally in order to properly fund these departments.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?I am a concerned resident and business owner that has been able to withstand the current recession due to sound business practices and spending. Being a business owner I am required to forecast the future; however it is imperative that I focus on the here and now. I believe that leadership and teamwork are the keys to a successful outcome.Given the delicate balance between the need for revenue and over-taxing local businesses, what is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Our current tax rate, I believe, is acceptable. With so few businesses in our community we have to be careful not to have a high tax rate, as our residents are the ones patronizing these establishments. After more businesses are established in Pingree Grove this issue should be revisited.Talking with your friends and neighbors, what seems to be their biggest public safety concern? Explain the concern as you see it, and discuss how you think it should be addressed.Candidate did not respond.In these tight economic times, municipal budgets have to be prioritized. Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The current budget has an allotment of $5.25 million for a new village hall. Our current village hall suits the needs of our community in these tight economic times. I would put some of the money towards the Public Works department which is in need of a village owned building.What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Alternative energy! Being able to decrease our dependency on natural resources.
