2 years in prison for Wheeling man
A Cook County judge sentenced a Wheeling man to two years in prison recently after he pleaded guilty to stabbing another man in the abdomen last November following an altercation.
Oscar Medina, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, a class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison. He received credit for 19 days in custody.
Medina and a second man approached the victim who was sitting in a car in the 700 block of S. Buffalo Grove Road with another person, police said. An exchange of words escalated into a scuffle at which time Medina pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Medina attempted to flee but was stopped by the victim’s friend.
