Geneva school event canceled due to snow

The canceling has begun, well before a single snowflake has hit the ground.

On Monday morning Geneva Middle School South canceled its Stellar Students breakfast, due to happen on Thursday, because of forecasts for an intervening blizzard.

The notice sent to parents said it was done due to “the

potential for severe weather this week and the possibility of not being able to prepare for that breakfast.”

It will instead be held Feb. 10.

If history is any indicator, it may not be the only event canceled well in advance.

The Geneva Police Department was the first in the area to send out a Nixle message about the weather, with an alert midmorning Sunday about snow on Tuesday. Geneva and North Aurora use Nixle.com to send text and e-mail messages to subscribers about weather, crime and traffic.
