Illinois out of Top 25, Buckeyes still No. 1

Ohio State, the lone remaining unbeaten team, had to survive a scare from Northwestern on Saturday, but the Buckeyes remain a unanimous No. 1 in the men’s college basketball poll compiled by The Associated Press.

While Northwestern was unable to knock off the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes, Illinois was knocked from the Top 25 rankings after losing to Indiana last week.

The Illini, then ranked No. 20, lost a road game to Indiana (52-49) on Thursday after dropping a 63-58 game in Champaign to Ohio State the previous week.

Only three top 10 teams did not to lose a game last week, and it’s Ohio State’s third straight week at No. 1.

Kansas and Texas are the only other top 10s to escape last week without a loss. They jumped four places to second and third. Rounding out the top 10 are Pittsburgh, Duke, Connecticut, San Diego State, BYU, Notre Dame and Kentucky.

Four newcomers join the rankings — Arizona, Utah State, North Carolina and West Virginia. They replace Illinois, Florida State, Florida and Michigan State.
