Wolves lose at San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — The Chicago Wolves opened scoring with a power-play goal but couldn’t find the back of the net again, dropping a 4-1 decision to the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center on Friday night.

Nigel Dawes scored the Wolves’ goal.

The Wolves got on board 8:40 into the game with a power-play strike when Dawes backhanded the puck from the top of crease past San Antonio goaltender Matt Climie.

Climie (17-11-0) made 37 saves.

San Antonio (29-18-2-0) tied the score at 1-1 on the power play when defenseman Garrett Stafford fired a shot through traffic, beating Wolves goaltender Peter Mannino 12:08 into the second period.

Mikkel Boedker took a feed at the doorstep and slid the puck into the empty side of the net to give San Antonio a 2-1 lead 16:50 into the second period.

The Rampage made it 3-1 at 3:58 of the third period with another power-play goal when Boedker blasted a shot from the point past Mannino, stick side.

Mannino (12-11-2) stopped 18 shots.

Brett MacLean closed out the Rampage’s scoring with an empty-net goal.
