Exploiting tragedy for political points

The recent rhetoric about the Tucson rampage from Dick Durbin, the guttersnipes on MSNBC and the liberal media is truly despicable. Durbin, who once said about our troops, “They acted like Nazis,” is at it again.

When an Islamic terrorist massacred 13 soldiers and wounded many more, Durbin/Obama were quick to say, “Don’t jump the conclusions.” Even though Nidal Hasan screamed Allahu akbar, considered U.S. Forces his enemy, and justified Muslim suicide bombers? Before the smoke cleared in Tucson, Durbin couldn’t “Jump the conclusions” fast enough, accusing Sarah Palin for provoking this tragic event.

The use of “cross hairs,” “targets” and military vernacular have been used on both sides for decades. I missed Durbin’s indignation when Obama was rallying his troops during the 2008 campaign and said, ”If they (Republicans) bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun” Or when he said “Latinos should go out and punish their Republican enemies.” Liberal hypocrisy on steroids.

Instead of mourning the dead, praising the heroes, and investigating why this maniac was running lose after numerous encounters with the law, the left was too busy blaming conservatives. Loughner is an avid dope smoker, worshipped skulls, read “The Communist Manifesto” and is a 9/11 truther. A school friend said he was apolitical, didn’t listen to talk radio. Sound like a tea party conservative Republican to anyone? Utterly repulsive for Durbin to attempt to exploit this tragic event for cheap political points. Durbin embodies all that is reprehensible with Washington! Hey, Durbin, want a real example of hate mongering and ‘toxic rhetoric’? Look in the mirror.

The historic repudiation of liberalism on Nov. 2 obviously fell on deaf ears. A CBS Poll showed 57 percent to 32 percent of Americans do not believe political rhetoric was responsible for the Tucson massacre. Still clueless.
