Naperville salon accused of disfiguring Brazilian wax customer
A Naperville salon is being sued by a former customer who says she was disfigured by an “improperly performed” Brazilian wax.
Tisleen Singh is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from Simply Hair Salon and Renewal Spa, 2052 W. Ogden Ave.
In a five-page lawsuit filed in DuPage County this month, Singh says she suffered physical and mental pain as the result of a Jan. 15, 2009, Brazilian wax, which caused disfigurement and left her with medical bills.
The lawsuit accuses the salon of being negligent by improperly applying a wax that adhered to the skin and was removed with “too much force.”
Neither a salon representative nor Singh's attorney, John A. Stefani, immediately returned calls seeking comment Friday.
According to its website, the salon near Westfield Shoppingtown has professionally trained staff who provide “the ultimate beauty experience” in a “soothing, intimate oasis.”
A Brazilian wax involves the application of warm wax to the bikini region. The wax is then covered with small strips of cloth and, after hardening, pulled off quickly to uproot unwanted hair.
