Quinn, McHugh pace Carmel's triumph

Erin Quinn scored 12 points and Sarah McHugh added 11, as Carmel Catholic's girls basketball team edged visiting Providence Catholic 38-34 in East Suburban Catholic Conference action Thursday night.

Carmel (14-9, 5-3) won for the fifth time in six games.

Zion-Benton 79, Lake Forest 34: Samantha Rodriguez had 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals for the Zee-Bees in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Zion-Benton (17-5, 7-3) also received 12 points from Octavia Crump and 11 apiece from Juanita Robinson (6 assists, 3 steals) and Aaliyah Smith (career high, 8 rebounds, 3 blocked shots).

Men's basketball

Trey Williams hit a 25-footer from well beyond the three-point arc, as the College of Lake County men's basketball team defeated Prairie State 71-68 on Thursday.

CLC (12-10, 5-2 Skyway Conference) was led by Alex Morgunov's 19 points and 13 rebounds. Paul Williams had 14 points, and Trey Williams finished with 11.

The College of Lake County will host Morton at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
