Pedestrian injured in Batavia hit-and-run
A pedestrian was taken to the hospital after a hit-and-run in Batavia early Wednesday night, according to authorities.
Emergency crews responded to the 600 block of North River Street just after 6 p.m. Wednesday after a 22-year-old man was struck.
The man was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and treated for minor injuries, according to fire department officials.
The 22-year-old was walking north on North River Street when at the last second he heard a vehicle approaching. He looked back and was struck in the backside and knocked to the side of the road, police said.
The victim was able to catch a glimpse of the vehicle, which he described as a dark brown or black older model SUV. The car was last seen northbound on North River Street.
There are no sidewalks on the street where the man was hit.
The victim walked to a nearby residence and up a flight of stairs to call 911 after being struck, according to authorities.
No citations had been issued as of late Wednesday.
