Government guided by conscience

I was so heartened by the Jan. 20 letter in the paper telling of the website, nolabels.org. Awareness of how we use labels in our daily conversations is a first step to observing how we are respectful.

I think you all know I am not talking about labels on material objects. Labels put us, all people, in boxes. The other thing I want to address in the non-ability, it seems, of our government officials to work together. I was so hopeful when two Congresswomen talked of opening up the health care bill to discussion and listening — dialogue, rather repeal. Is looking out for the common good out of their discussion?

This mentality of having it our way has cost us money and time. It is a disservice to us all. They must all examine their motives and their egos. A government that is guided by conscience is one the most powerful, hopeful forces in history.
