Capitalism creates bigger pie for all

Donald Berwich, Obamacare czar, stated, “Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must — must — redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate ... The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”

Some comments from a dual U.S./Canadian citizen: The real issue is, what is better? Try to redistribute from an ever-shrinking pie, or create more pie for everyone? Why did Pelosi's Congress specifically except themselves from Obamacare? Or are they exempt from the redistribution they legislated? Why is everything a zero-sum game to the socialists? Capitalism creates a bigger pie for everyone. As John F. Kennedy said, a rising tide lifts all boats.

Socialists generally end up shrinking the pie, leaving everyone with less, and generally with the well-connected (think Pelosi, the Hollywood Learjet liberals, etc.) with ways around the restrictions. This has always been the case under socialism, where, as Orwell noted, we're all equal in the socialist workers' paradise, only some of us are “more equal” than others.

Has anyone lived, as I have, under socialized medicine? It simply does not work. As one example of politically connected leftists not playing by the game of “equitable,” John Kerry chose to dock his $7 million yacht in Rhode Island rather than in his home state of Massachusetts, to avoid paying taxes. These taxes would have gone, in part, to health care for the poor in his state. He thus avoided paying, according to WPRI.com, $437,500 in one-time sales tax, and $70,000 in annual excise taxes.

As they used to say in Jaruzelski's communist Poland, and now applies to Obamacare: “When socialism comes to the Sahara, there will even be a shortage of sand.”
