Terrace School holds International Night
The Terrace School Parent Teacher Council celebrated the diversity in the Des Plaines community and helped students gain a more global view by hosting its first International Night.
“Students and parents were able to participate and understand what makes all of us unique,” stated Terrace parent Lilia Ramirez, who organized the event. “It was quite a family event.”
The night offered a natural way to encourage participation from parents of all backgrounds. Families or community groups worked together to create a variety of booths to visit, each with pictures, artifacts and snacks from a specific country.
Participants had their travel passport stamped as they visited each “country.” A parade of traditional costumes and performances of songs and dances were the highlight of the evening.
