Roots-rock hero
Webb Wilder hasn't stopped rocking since bursting onto the scene in the 1980s with his signature mix of classic American rock 'n' roll and British pop, a musical combination augmented by Wilder's witty lyrics and his delightful growl of a voice. Wilder's latest record, “More Like Me,” came out in 2009, and he'll sample from that and others throughout his career during a performance at Fitzgerald's, a concert that's part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the suburban rock and roots club.
9 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Fitzgerald's Nightclub, 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. $15. Go to fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
Classic swing
Also at Fitzgerald's, John Burnett, host of the morning show at the College of DuPage's WDCB 90.9-FM, will again lead the John Burnett Orchestra in a performance of 1940s-style big-band and swing. Think Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie. Jazz programming at Fitzgerald's is sponsored by WDCB, a public radio station based on the Glen Ellyn campus.
6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at Fitzgerald's Nightclub, 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. $10. Go to fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
