Coroner IDs victim of fatal Rockford shooting

ROCKFORD — The Winnebago County coroner has identified the man killed when shots were fired into a crowd of people at a Rockford party over the weekend.

Coroner Sue Fiduccia tells the Rockford Register Star that 25-year-old Charles Spivey was killed in the shooting. Five other people were also shot.

Police called to the scene early Saturday found Spivey in a white van. He died several hours later.

Authorities say three other people at the scene were taken to the hospital for treatment after being shot. Later, two other people walked into the hospital also suffering from gunshot wounds.

Rockford police are investigating.
