Wolves run out of gas in loss to Barons

The Chicago Wolves surrendered 2 power-play goals and couldn’t crack Oklahoma City Barons goaltender Martin Gerber until late in the third period of a 2-1 loss Sunday at the Allstate Arena.

Jared Ross scored for the Wolves (24-20-2-3), who had their three-game winning streak snapped.

“We fought hard but we were definitely out of gas tonight,” said Wolves coach Don Lever. “We looked good the first 10 minutes but then the three games in three nights caught up to us.”

Colin McDonald scored against Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre at 5:50 of the second period to give the Barons a 1-0 lead. They made it 2-0 at 7:14 of the third on Brad Moran’s goal.

MacIntyre (7-5-1) had 20 saves for the Wolves.

Ross got the Wolves on the board with 2:45 remaining in the third period.

Gerber (16-10-2) stopped 21 of 22 shots.
