Palatine GOP bringing common sense back to government
How much longer are we going to put up with the mismanagement of the state of Illinois by misguided lawmakers? Illinois is the laughingstock of the nation. The governor of Indiana is quoted as saying that being next to Illinois is like “living next door to the Simpsons.”
Our current leaders have driven this state into a financial hole and have now attempted to tax their way out. A 67 percent income tax hike and a 46 percent business tax increase (to the 4th highest rate in the nation) imposed on the backs of Illinois residents and businesses is foolish as we attempt to crawl out of this recession.
I am proud to say that not a single Republican voted for these tax hikes. Are the governor and his Democratic colleagues trying to drive companies out of the state? They have sabotaged job growth just as the businesses in our communities were beginning to hire again. Do they want Illinois residents to pack up and move to neighboring states?
We want to congratulate state Sen. Matt Murphy and state Rep. Suzie Bassi for standing up for the residents and businesses of Palatine Township by voting against this ill-advised tax increase. We know our new Republican legislators will join the fight against wasteful spending and tax increases, and we will continue to stand with them.
The Palatine Township Republican Organization is dedicated to electing more common sense fiscal conservatives at the local level in 2011 and in Springfield as well as Washington in 2012. Join us and help put our state and nation back on firm financial footing.
