Some suggestions for spending cuts

Well, here they go again, passing an income tax increase. They cut spending by reducing or eliminating many programs and incentives. But wait, they are cutting things that are all related to the taxpayers. This is what taxes were raised for originally.

How about cutting spending on the other side of the fence? Let’s cut the salary 10 percent for all the public employees, starting with the governor and going on down. No raises or bonuses or cost of living adjustments to get more money for themselves.

Next, let’s freeze the pension funds; any contribution is to be made solely by the employee. This should be in effect as long as this tax increase is in effect. If the excuse is that we cannot change this because it is the law or in the Constitution, then put it on the ballot and let the voters change the law or amend the Constitution.

The recent holiday spending was very good compared with previous years, but what will happen in the coming year?

Just before elections all the politicians say what great things they have done while in office. I think it would be a great idea if the papers were to list all their accomplishments by posting all the items they voted on starting with this recent tax increase. Then I will quickly invest in moving companies.

Bottom line, there is no such thing as Democrat or Republican. Each party name should be preceded by the word greedy.
