Windows shot out of three St. Charles buildings

Police are investigating three separate instances of windows being shot out in St. Charles over the weekend.

At 8 p.m. Saturday police responded to the Provena Pine View Care Center nursing home where a bullet was shot through a window.

The next day two more buildings were shot at.

At 7:20 a.m. Sunday, a police officer on patrol found the front glass door and side window were shot out at a closed business on the 1700 block of Wallace Avenue, according to police. That night, homeowners on the 200 block of North Sixth Street came home to find bullet holes in the front window of their home.

Neighbors on the block told police they saw a small, dark colored compact car leaving the scene, police said.

“Witnesses heard popping sounds in the neighborhood, looked out and saw that vehicle leaving,” said St. Charles Police spokesman Paul McCurtain.

Police said the three incidents appear to be random acts.

Police are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.
