Inverness man attacked in his home
An Inverness man was attacked in his home by a gun-wielding acquaintance Tuesday night, according to police.
The victim who lives on the 900 block of Blackburn Drive called 911 about 8:05 p.m. Tuesday after being attacked, police said.
The man told police he answered a knock at his door and a man he knew barged into the home, began yelling at him and struck him multiple times, said Inverness Police Chief Bob Hass.
Police said the attacker was armed with a handgun but would not say if the victim was struck with the gun. The homeowner was treated for minor injuries at the scene but refused a trip to the hospital.
Police said the attack was over an argument but could not elaborate.
Investigators have a person of interest but do not know if the victim will file charges, according to police.
If charges are filed, it is likely the man will be charged with home invasion and aggravated battery, Hass said.
