Libertyville moves to 21-0

Libertyville’s girls basketball team used a familiar formula to remain undefeated Thursday night — defense and Savannah Trees’ offense.

Trees scored 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as the Wildcats improved to 21-0 with a 37-26 nonconference win over visiting Glenbrook South.

Valerie Van Roeyen added 8 points for Libertyville, which held its opponent to fewer than 40 points for the 16th game in a row and 19th time this season.

The Wildcats led 8-5 after one quarter and built their advantage to 20-13 at the halftime intermission.

Glenbrook South closed the gap slightly, trailing 25-20 after three quarters, but the Wildcats pulled away in the final eight minutes

The Wildcats can clinch the North Suburban Conference Lake Division championship for the second year in a row Saturday, when they host Warren at 2:30 p.m.
