Your news: Freelance journalist to conduct workshop

Freelance journalist Amy Gail Hansen will conduct a workshop titled “The Biography and Beyond: Exploring the Art of Research-based Writing” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Hwy., Barrington.

Topics covered include how a writer transforms true details into compelling copy; tips on finding reliable sources; how to use direct quotes; writing feature articles, family memoirs and news releases.

Hansen is the author of two biographies on Taylor Swift published by Random House. The event is hosted by the Barrington Writers Workshop.
