Lombard Fire advises of product recall

The Lombard Fire Department would like to advise residents of a recall of GE and Professional Series brand dehumidifiers.

A component in the compressor can short-circuit, posing a fire hazard. This recall involves approximately 198,000 30-pint and 40-pint portable front-loading dehumidifiers made between November 2006 and August 2008.

The items were sold at Walmart, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Menards and other retail stores from February 2007 through June 2009 for between $140 and $180.
