Wolves drop tough one

The Chicago Wolves and Rockford battled through 49:38 of scoreless hockey before Kyle Beach broke the stalemate to give the IceHogs a 1-0 victory before 12,053 at the Allstate Arena Saturday night.

Rockford goalie Hannu Toivonen made 32 saves.

The Wolves (21-19-2-3) have dropped five straight — three by a 1-goal margin — during their season-high, seven-game homestand.

“We're having a rough time winning the close games,” said Wolves coach Don Lever. “Both goaltenders played very well, but we made one mistake and it ended up in the back of the net. It wasn't from lack of effort, and that's all you ask.”

The IceHogs (18-16-1-4) netted the only goal at 9:38 of the third period when Beach fired a shot past Wolves goaltender Drew MacIntyre, who made 26 saves.
