Fire damages Wheeling home

No injuries were reported after a Wheeling house fire Friday night that appeared to have begun in the residence's garage.

Firefighters were called to the single-family home on the 100 block of West Manchester Drive at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Wheeling Fire Lt. Steve Kosick said.

Mutual aid was requested from the Northbrook, Buffalo Grove and Arlington Heights fire departments in controlling the fire which damaged the garage and part of the adjoining house, Kosick added.

Crews worked on the fire for 15 to 30 minutes, but returned to the station at 11 p.m. only after workers had arrived to board up the damaged structure, Kosick said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday.
