Christians in Iraq only want peace

As Moses said to the Egyptians: “Let my people go.” I am asking this: “Give my people a place to go.”

Do the Assyrian Christians in Iraq have to wait like the Jews to experience a second genocide before someone helps them? We are Christians and speak the language of Christ (Aramaic). But our words have fallen on deaf ears in this world.

Do we wait like the Jews in Poland or Germany who were gone before anyone took action against Hitler? Do we have to wait that long?

We are bringing all kinds of nationalities here and giving them sanctuary when they have their own countries. Let them fight for their own countries and stay there. All we are asking for is a place of peace for what is left of us.

We have written to senators, presidents and relief organizations and have not heard a word. Maybe what’s left of us in many countries should march — it seems to get attention. But the fact is we are really a peace-loving nationality.
