Man hurt in Lombard crash

A minivan driver was injured in a one-car accident Friday afternoon in Lombard.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. at the tollbooth on the northbound I-355 exit at North Avenue.

The vehicle was totaled, authorities said.

“(The vehicle) ended up on the passenger side. It rolled over,” said Lombard fire Battalion Chief Jeff Holst. The extrication, he said, took more than a half-hour.

Fire officials said the minivan was driven by a middle-aged man. He was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

“He was talking to us during the extrication,” Holst said.

The accident is still under investigation.
