Indiana county shuts down rodeo neighbors opposed
CROWN POINT, Ind. — A northern Indiana county has lassoed a rodeo that neighbors had complained about.
The Lake County Council voted unanimously Wednesday to deny a special exception for the El Bajio rodeo that would permit it to resume western-style sporting events and serve alcoholic beverages on a farm four miles west of Lowell.
The Times of Munster reports no one from the rodeo appeared before the council to argue for allowing the rodeo to resume this year.
Several nearby residents complained the rodeo. Geraldine Maxwell told council members it got so loud at times she couldn't sleep at night.
Lake County police were called there July 20 to break up a fight.
A telephone number for a woman listed as the rodeo's owner on a county document has been disconnected.
