Barrington bear in need of a name

In anticipation of the Chicago Bears' hoped-for victories in the playoffs and Superbowl XLV, one Barrington business is looking for help in naming its own ursine mascot.

The furry giant guards the entrance to Honquest Furniture for Living at 1455 S. Barrington Road in Barrington.

Anyone older than 12 is eligible to nominate a name for the big bear at the store's reception desk from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, until 8 p.m. on Thursdays and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The contest will remain open until the Chicago Bears go to the Super Bowl — or as long as they remain alive in the playoffs.

Entries should include a suggested name for the bear, the name of your favorite Chicago Bears player and the number on his jersey.

The winner will receive a Chicago Bears-related gift from store owners Rachel and Richard Honquest — a couple who truly know their Bears on and off the football field. They attend every home game at Soldier Field.

Rachel Honquest spent hours shopping for the perfect Chicago Bears jersey for the store's guardian to wear. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and see the bear or take a picture with him.
