Boys basketball / Lake County roundup

Lakes' boys basketball team overcame a 12-point second-half deficit to edge host Round Lake 55-51 in North Suburban Prairie Division play Thursday night.

Parker Blain's basket with 1:07 left snapped a 51-51 tie, and the Eagles outscored the Panthers 10-0 down the stretch.

Parker and his brother Tanner led Lakes (6-11, 4-2) with 14 points each.

Juddon Carter had 25 points for Round Lake.

Zion-Benton 84, Lake Zurich 59: Mirko Grcic scored 21 points for the Bears in their North Suburban Lake loss in Zion.

Freshman Milik Yarbrough scored 34 points for Z-B.

Men's basketball

Lake County 71, Waubonsee 68: Tommy Smith sank a 3-pointer with .9 left, lifting the host Lancers to the Skyway Conference victory.

Smith finished with a game-high 18 points, as Lake County rallied from a 10-point deficit with five minutes to go.

Grant graduate Gil Sheehan added 10 points for CLC (10-10, 2-1, tied for first), while Paul Williams (Zion-Benton) and Trey Williams (Lakes) added 8 and 7 points, respectively.
