Steppenwolf's 'Detroit' headed to Broadway

Lisa D'Amour's offbeat play "Detroit" is scheduled to land on Broadway in the fall.

The play, which had its world premiere last year at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company, will mark the Broadway debut for D'Amour, a playwright and actress.

The casting for Broadway hasn't been revealed, but the Chicago production featured Kevin Anderson, Laurie Metcalf, Kate Arrington, Ian Barford and Robert Breuler.

"Detroit" is set in a suburb of that city and centers on a couple who invite their new neighbors over for a barbecue only to slowly find that the friendship is veering out of control.

Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton will return to direct the Broadway production.
