Robbery at Walgreens in Knollwood
Lake County sheriff's officials are looking for a man who made off with cash and a Rice Krispy Treat during a robbery in Knollwood.
The unknown suspect walked into the Walgreens on the 12700 block of Rockland Road just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday, put a Rice Krispy Treat on the counter, then held out a 3-inch pocket knife and demanded the money in the register, Lt. Christopher Thompson said Tuesday.
Thompson said the robber told the cashier he only wanted money. The woman opened the register and the man grabbed $229 and fled.
The cashier told police the suspect was a male white or male Hispanic suspect, 25 to 30 years old, who stood approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighed about 160 pounds. He had a black bushy mustache.
He was last seen wearing a bright red winter jacket, black knit skull cap, blue jeans and what appeared to be black dress shoes, Thompson said.
The suspect fled the store on foot westbound, and investigators believe he got into a blue or gray, older model 4-door passenger car.
