Kenosha house explodes
KENOSHA, Wis. — Fire officials say a house explosion in Kenosha scattered debris a block away and shattered "hundreds" of windows in the neighborhood.
No one was hurt in the blast overnight Monday. Neighbors worked on boarding up windows and clearing debris Tuesday. Fifty-nine-year-old Fred Schultz lives next door to the house that exploded. Schultz says walls in his home have buckled and plaster has fallen because of the explosion.
We Energies spokesman Brian Manthey says utility crews inspected the gas line leading to the exploded house and found it's OK. The utility company temporarily shut off gas to about 15 homes in the area.
WGTD reports the vacant house was owned by the city and was recently built as part of a neighborhood revitalization program.
