Your news: American Legion donates to Toys for Tots

American Legion Post 964 in Lake Zurich donated $1,000 to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Gunnery Sgt. Steve Ledyard accepted the check and reported that the program would provide gifts for thousands of Lake County children.

Cmdr. Mike Peck of Post 964 also presented $1,000 to Tom and Barb Gescheidle of Smokin T Bar B Que for over 50 Thanksgiving Dinners for veterans in need on Thanksgiving.

Dave Munts of the Sons of the American Legion presented Cmdr. Peck with a check for $500 for the Honor Flight Program and Peck presented Bill Kuhlin of VFW Fifth District a check for $300 to support Operation Christmas Cheers, a program to provide Christmas gifts to every patient at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago.
