Preckwinkle asks citizens how to improve
Continuing an initiative begun in her transition period, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle today set up an online system to ask citizens for ways to improve government.
Preckwinkle is asking citizens to contribute to a page called “Make Cook County More Efficient” at the county's formal website at cookcountygov.com.
Preckwinkle's transition report, setting the agenda for her first term and first 100 days in office, was peppered with public comments gathered online, and the new initiative grows out of that.
“We want to continue to collect the valuable insights our residents can provide,” Preckwinkle said. “This gives us a mechanism to do that and continue our commitment to transparency and accountability.”
To that end, Preckwinkle is also posting her public calendar online at the Office of the President area of the county website.
Preckwinkle credited new Chief Information Officer Greg Wass with pushing the two programs through.
Preckwinkle is also urging county employees to suggest new efficiencies through a Front Line Award, to be first presented at a County Board meeting in April to the employee or department submitting the best idea to improve government services.
