Season-high crowd sees Wolves lose

The Chicago Wolves drew an American Hockey League season-high 15,654 in a 4-1 loss to the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Allstate Arena on Saturday night.

Nigel Dawes scored the lone goal for the Wolves at 8:47 of the third period. Mark Matheson held the puck behind the net and slipped it to Dawes streaking into the crease for a quick tap past Hamilton goaltender Curtis Sanford.

Sanford (13-6-1) stymied all 15 of the Wolves' other shots.

“They just dominated us,” said Wolves coach Don Lever. “We had gone into their building and beaten them twice and they were a desperate hockey team. They were very good tonight.”

Hamilton took a 4-0 lead at 5:59 of the third period when Kyle Klubertanz's shot from the point blazed through traffic in front of the net and past Wolves goalie Peter Mannino.

Mannino finished with 32 saves.
