Steel Beam Children's Theatre presents 'The House at Pooh Corner'

Winnie the Pooh fans will delight in Steel Beam Children's Theatre production of “The House at Pooh Corner,” which spotlights beloved childhood favorites Pooh, Piglet, Kanga, Roo, Owl and Eeyore and introduces the indispensable character of Tigger.

A.A. Milne's “The House at Pooh Corner” was written in 1928 as a sequel to the popular “Winnie the Pooh.” It is a series of short stories that tell how the friends built a home for Eeyore on Pooh Corner, how they discovered a “Tigger,” and, in the end, how they must say goodbye to Christopher Robin.

In this Bettye Knapp theatrical adaptation, Christopher Robin and his friends plot their escape from the Hundred Acre Woods when they discover that Christopher will be sent to school. The friends learn that it is better to face the future head-on since there is no escaping the changes that go along with growing up.

“The House at Pooh Corner” opens Saturday, Jan. 15, and runs through Sunday, Feb. 6. Show times are 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Sundays. There is free parking next to the theater, 111 W. Main St., in historic downtown St. Charles. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children younger than 16. To celebrate the opening weekend, California Pizza Kitchen, 1202 Commons Drive in Geneva, will donate 20 percent of your check to Steel Beam Theatre when you eat at CPK Jan. 15-16. Contact CPK or Steel Beam Theatre for details.
