Scouting report: Indiana at Northwestern

Indiana (9-7, 0-3) at Northwestern (9-4, 0-3)

When: 6 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena

TV: BTN

Radio: WIND 560-AM

The skinny: It's only Jan. 9, but the Wildcats already have moved into must-win territory as these Big Ten's cellar-dwellers meet. In the Wildcats' defense, they just faced three straight top-20 foes without a healthy John Shurna. That was a better alibi, though, before NU didn't bring maximum effort to Thursday's 25-point loss at Illinois. The Hoosiers are suffering through a five-game losing streak and have dropped their last 12 games away from Assembly Hall. Sophomore Christian Watford (16.4 ppg) has made a big jump this year while NU always must keep an eye on soph shooter Jordan Hulls (51.6 percent on 3s). Hulls made eight 3-pointers last March when Indiana won in Bloomington.
