Lakes finishes North Chicago's streak
It's been a bad week for streaks.
On Dec. 30, the Connecticut women's basketball team saw its NCAA-record 90-game winning streak cut off at the knees by Stanford.
On Friday, North Chicago said so long to an impressive streak of its own.
In a stunner, Lakes ended the Warhawks' 43-game North Suburban Conference Prairie Division winning streak by holding on for a 68-66 victory in Lake Villa.
Thanks in part to a game-high 24 points from Tanner Blain, the Eagles were able to overcome a 9-point halftime deficit.
Nick Hibbing added 15 points for Lakes, which improves to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in the Prairie.
North Chicago was led by Aaron Simpson, who finished with 20 points.
