Lightning sets candlelight bowl for Feb. 26
The Northern Illinois Lightning fastpitch softball organization will hold its second annual candlelight bowl fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Elgin Lanes.
Bowling will be scotch doubles and the admission price includes a buffet dinner, three games of bowling, shoe rental, and an entry for a door prize. There will be prize raffles all night as well.
The event will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight and is open to adults 18 and older only.
Lane sponsorships are available and reservations are being taken now. Individual ticket price is $35 and couples are $60.

Goebbert highlights hitting clinic: Former Hampshire and Northwestern standout Jake Goebbert, who now plays in the Houston Astros organization, will conduct an advanced hitting clinic at Fox Valley Sports Academy in Elgin on Saturday, Feb. 19. Goebbert, who led the Class AA South Atlantic League last season with 48 doubles and was second in RBI with 98, will instruct on the topics of knowing your zone, swinging with a purpose, and putting it together from the tee to the box. Fasano at Judson: The Judson University baseball team will hold its 1st Pitch Bash fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 29 from 5-7 p.m. at the Lindner Fitness Center. The featured speaker will be former major leaguer and current Class AA manager Sal Fasano, a native of Hoffman Estates. Fasano played for nine different major league teams and is now a manager in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. The night will feature a ballpark atmosphere complete with ballpark food. There will also be a silent auction and the Judson baseball team will present a video introduction of the 2011 team. Cost is $5.
