Palatine Rotary seeking groups to help

The Rotary Club's 2010 Oktoberfest celebration last fall in downtown Palatine was so successful, the service organization expects to dole out more financial support than ever before due to the amount of money raised.

It's currently accepting applications from not-for-profit organizations for potential donations from the club, which has more than $25,000 to give out, according to Rotarian Liz Noe.

Chuck Oswald, co-chairman of the allocations committee, said it's a particularly great feeling to be part of an organization that can give so much back, especially when so many have had to cut back.

Applications are due Jan. 15. They're available through any Palatine Rotarian or committee co-Chairs David Reiser at (847) 359-5529 or Chuck Oswald at coswald725@sbcglobal.net.

Rotary bills itself as a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.
