Dawes, Wolves rout Marlies
Nigel Dawes scored 4 goals to lead the Chicago Wolves to a 9-3 rout of the Toronto Marlies at the Allstate Arena on Wednesday.
Dawes' 4-goal performance was the first by a Wolves player since 1996, and just the third in franchise history.
The 9 goals were a season high
Riley Holzapfel scored twice, Darren Haydar and Mark Matheson each had 3 assists and Jamie Sifers added a pair of assists for the Wolves (21-16-2-1).
“They came at us pretty good at first and we weren't ready to play,” said Wolves coach Don Lever. “But then our skill came into play and that was the game. We can score enough goals, but we need to be better defensively.”
Wolves goalie Drew MacIntyre stopped 32 shots to earn his fourth straight win.
