Be prepared for tornado season

I have lived in Sun City Huntley for 11½ years. During that time we have had a few tornado warnings but no tornado has touched ground. Knowing the area was in the tornado region I bought an NOAA radio. It is something every home or car should have.

It alerts you with a very loud beep and a flashing light if there is a storm or tornado in the area and tells you what action to take. It has different channels that when you click on the button and get the clearest voice it gives you info on your specific county and town. You keep it on standby all the time during the extended season. They are reasonable priced and can be found on line by Googling NOAA radio. The weather alerts come from the National Weather Service.

I also turn on NBC, CBS, ABC or the Weather Channel. I have always gotten the needed info so I could go with my husband and animals to the area I know is safest. There is a siren near my home that goes off when there is a warning. I am not always able to understand what the message is, but if the sky is turning black I assume that it must be weather related. Everyone should have the radio and a plan as what to do in case we do get a tornado.
