Beware FCC control of Internet

During the time my family and I lived overseas, we were on hand for the military overthrow of a government. Nine years later, another faction began military action (in the same country) to take over control.

One of the many similarities of the two periods of conflict was the action of the winning side to take over the radio, TV, and news outlets so that their content could be controlled. The FCC process involving the Internet takes me back to those past events.

The FCC decision was made irrespective of the clear input from Congress that they were overstepping their bounds and judicial decisions affirming the same. It is hard to come away with any other conclusion than content control is the issue, i.e., if we don't like what you say, we'll shut you down.

If we are going to be governed by administrative and organizational fiats rather than by constitutionally established processes, it's going to be a long, cold winter.

The next Congress needs to confront the FCC with the equivalent of a rolled-up newspaper.
