Library of Congress exhibit to visit Indiana

ELKHART, Ind. — An 18-wheel tractor-trailer carrying replicas of Library of Congress documents will visit Indiana this year as part of a tour designed to introduce people in small towns and rural areas to the resources available at the Washington landmark.

The "Gateway to Knowledge" exhibition will include replicas of the 1455 Gutenberg Bible, a rough draft of the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson and the 1962 drawings for the comic book that introduced Spider-Man to readers.

The exhibit will visit Elkhart Jan. 11 and 12. It traveled to Plainfield and Anderson in October and to Merrillville last month.

The trailer expands to three times its road width and will feature museum-style exhibits, a multimedia display and computer terminals displaying Library of Congress web sites.
