High volume slowed Ind. jobless benefits website
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana Department of Workforce Development spokeswoman says a high volume of people logging onto the state's unemployment benefits website caused it to operate slowly over the weekend.
Spokeswoman Valerie Kroeger says the system ran slower than normal but continued to process jobless claims.
Kroeger says problems began Sunday, the day of the week that many people choose to file claims. She says the start of a new calendar quarter on Saturday added more volume. When the quarter changes, anyone on federally extended benefits is required to log on to reopen their claims and file a voucher.
